History

The band was formed in 2004 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The founders were Ryan Ross, singer and guitarist, and Spencer Smith, drumist. Who began playing while in ninth grade at Bishop Gorman High School. Later on they invited Brent Wilson from Palo Verde High School to play the bass, who in turn invited Brendon Urie as guitarist. Brendon Urie didn't become lead vocalist until he sang back-up at a rehearsal and they decided to stick with it. All four of them dropped out of school in order to concentrate on music. Ross dropped out of college and had a fight with his father. Brendon didn't go to college, like his parents wanted, so they kicked him out of the house. Urie began to work at Tropical Smoothie Cafe to be able to rent the band's working space and his apartment. Sometimes he even sang for the customers. Ross and Urie sent three of their demos to Pete Wentz, bassist for the band Fall Out Boy. He signed them to Decaydance Records (Now known as DCD2), a brand of Fueled by Ramen, in December of 2004.

In 2006, after the extensive world tour for A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, bassist Brent Wilson was fired and replaced by Jon Walker. After the release of Pretty. Odd. guitarist Ryan Ross and bassist Jon Walker left the band to form Young Veins. Brendon Urie and Spencer Smith were left as the only members of Panic! at the Disco. They recruited Dallon Weekes as bassist for live performances. In 2015, Spencer Smith left the band. This left Brendon Urie as the sole member of the official lineup.
